People return after workshop fire

Fire in Waltham Chase
The fire is not being treated as suspicious, police said

Residents have been allowed to return to their homes in a Hampshire village after a fire started in a workshop where gas cylinders were being stored.

Fifty homes were evacuated in Waltham Chase and a 200m exclusion zone was put in place around the building in Winchester Road on Sunday.

Residents were moved to the village hall because of the risk of explosion.

The fire was extinguished but crews remained at the scene overnight to monitor three acetylene cylinders.
