The Itchen Bridge was closed for six hours following the crash

A soldier who stopped to offer help at the scene of a crash in which a cyclist was killed may have vital clues as to its cause, police have said.
Officers investigating the death of Derek Witt, 60, on the Itchen Bridge in Southampton a week ago have urged the man to contact them.
Seven occupants of a car, which was in collision with Mr Witt, were arrested and released on bail after the crash.
On Wednesday, police questioned almost 800 drivers using the bridge.
As a result, they said they have found "a number" of potential witnesses.
Insp Darren Miller, of Hampshire police, said: "We carried out the targeted road check a week on from the collision in the hope of speaking to people who may have been in the area at the time it happened.
"I'm still very keen to talk to a man we understand to be a soldier who stopped and offered help at the scene at the time, and who may have witnessed the incident."
Another cyclist, a 32-year-old man from Whiteley, suffered serious leg and chest injuries in the collision and remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
It was understood the victims had been cycling in a group of four at the time of the crash.
