A horse had to be rescued by firefighters after getting trapped in its transport lorry in Hampshire.

The coloured cob filly, called Blue Belle, had got loose inside the horsebox and tried to jump into the living accommodation section of it.

Her front legs became stuck over the partition and she could not get back.

A vet was called to Farley Lane in Slackstead, near Braishfield, to sedate her and Hampshire fire service's animal rescue specialists helped free her.

Anton Phillips, watch manager, said: "It appears that Blue Belle was placed in a field but had to be removed because she was being picked on by other horses.

"We placed hay bales in the living accommodation section and covered the top of the partition with rugs to make the transition back to the horse side as smooth as possible."
