Disabled man and friend attacked

A disabled man was robbed and his friend beaten up by a group of up to 10 men in Southampton, police said.

The man, who has one leg and was on crutches, was approached in Spring Road and had a bracelet stolen.

The group then kicked and punched his friend to the floor, before stealing items from him. He was left with a suspected fractured eye socket.

A 37-year-old man was arrested after police arrived on Saturday and later released on bail.

In all, the group stole a silver curb chain, a silver neck chain, a provisional driver's license and various lighters and cigarettes.

The neck chain and the driving licence has since been recovered.

Police appealed for witnesses.
