Police have renewed their appeal for help from the public after a prisoner escaped from custody in Hampshire.

Michael Andrew Tutt, 24, from Swanmore, Southampton, who was on remand for burglary and robbery offences, was being taken from Winchester prison.

He was being transferred from a van to Eastleigh police station when he ran off at 1037 GMT.

Police have been searching Eastleigh for Mr Tutt, who was last seen in the Cranbury Road area wearing handcuffs.

Det Insp Lloyd Tobin, of Eastleigh CID, said: "We would ask members of the public who see a man matching Mr Tutt's description to contact us immediately.

"He should not be approached."

Mr Tutt was described as 5ft 10ins, of slim build with acne on his face and spiky hair.

He also has a number of tattoos on his body - a dragon on his left arm, barbed wire and various symbols on his right arm, the words Michael and Verity on his chest and a dragon and panther on his back.

Mr Tutt was wearing a blue and grey T-shirt and light blue-coloured jeans.
