Theodore was described as "very happy and mischievous"
A man arrested by police investigating the death of an 11-year-old boy in an alleged hit-and-run crash has been released on bail.

Theodore Hixon-Denton was hit by a dark-coloured car on Sholing Road, Bitterne, Southampton, near the Veracity recreation ground on Friday.

He was taken to hospital with a police escort, but later died.

Detectives seized a car and arrested a 19-year-old man on Saturday morning. He was later released on police bail.

Theodore's mother Julia, sister Lydia and brother Louis paid tribute him.

In a statement, they said: "Theodore was a very much loved son, brother and grandson.

"He was a very happy and mischievous 11-year-old.

"At the moment we don't know how we will manage without him. Out hearts are broken."

Anyone who witnesses the accident is urged to contact police.
