Missing man found dead off island

Mr Claridge's disappearance was said to be "out of character"

A body found in the waters off the Isle of Wight is that of a missing 22-year-old man, police confirmed.

Christopher Claridge was reported missing by his family after he failed to turn up for work in Newport, on the island, on Sunday evening.

The disappearance of Mr Claridge, from Cowes, was described by police as "out of character".

A post-mortem examination is being conducted on Thursday afternoon to determine the cause of death.
