Body found in search for teenager
Rosemary Edwards
Police said Rosemary left home after a family argument
Detectives investigating the disappearance of Hampshire teenager Rosemary Edwards have told her parents a body has been found.

Walkers discovered the body of a young woman, who has not been identified, at Bartley in the New Forest on Sunday.

It came days after a 100,000 reward was offered in the search for Rosemary.

The 15-year-old from Dibden Purlieu was last seen when she left the family home on 4 September. Police said she had left after a family argument.

Hampshire Constabulary said there was no indication that the death of the young woman found in the New Forest was suspicious.

'Desperate to help'

On Friday Southampton-based CCTV company Tecton, where Rosemary's father David works as a consultant, offered the reward for information leading to her safe return.

Chris Hall, managing director of Tecton, said: "We are desperate to do anything we can to help David and his family find Rosemary.

"I would urge anyone who may be able to help to contact police with information."

There have been more than 50 sightings in several parts of the country of a girl matching her description.

Her parents and teacher have appealed for her to contact them and a photograph and description of her have been printed on the reverse of envelopes used for global mailshots.

Rosemary is 15 but it is said she could pass for 18. She is described as white, 5ft 9in (1.75m) tall with a slim build.

She has dark blonde hair which falls to about four inches above her waist and is either worn loose or in a loose braid.

Police have appealed to Rosemary to contact them or the Runaway Helpline.
