Body of woman found on motorway

Police are not treating the death as suspicious

The body of a young woman has been found on the carriageway of a motorway in Hampshire.

A lorry driver discovered the body in the early hours of Saturday on the westbound carriageway of the M27 near Southampton.

A Hampshire police spokeswoman said: "It is not yet known how the woman, believed to be in her early 20s, died."

The motorway between junction two and three was closed for several hours while police teams examined the scene.

The woman was described as white with long red hair. She was wearing dark jogging bottoms and a cream hooded fleece.
