Garage fire blamed on arsonists

Fire crews prevented the blaze from spreading to other buildings

A fire which destroyed a garage and almost spread to nearby houses was started deliberately, say police.

The blaze in Southcroft Road, Gosport, Hampshire, began on Wednesday night.

Det Con Sarah Snow said: "This is a particularly mindless act. If the fire had spread the damage could have been even worse that it was.

"We would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time and may have seen those responsible for starting the fire."
