Milkman killed in collision named

A 53-year-old milkman who died when his milk float was involved in a collision with a milk lorry has been named as Allan Knight.

Another man, aged 32, suffered head injuries in the crash on Winchester Road in Alresford early on Tuesday.

His injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening and he remains at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester.

Hampshire police have renewed their appeal for witnesses.

Sgt Wayne Voller said: "I would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident itself or either vehicle in the area of the A31 and Winchester Road travelling from Winchester towards New Alresford.

"The vehicles are a white and orange Unigate milk delivery Ford Transit and a white Dairy Crest delivery lorry."

Winchester Road was closed for nearly eight hours to allow investigations to be conducted and recovery of the vehicles.

Mr Knight was from Colden Common in Hampshire.
