Wedding 'spoilt' by cruise virus
Mr and Mrs Cordon with the captain of Sea Princess
The captain would not shake hands for fear of catching the virus
A couple who married onboard the virus-struck Sea Princess say their wedding day was ruined.

David Cordon, 40, and his fiancée Michelle, 27, from West Yorkshire, had invited 14 relatives to their big day.

But three guests fell ill, including the bride's father, who still managed to walk his daughter down the aisle.

The captain who married them would not shake their hands afterwards in case he caught the virus. The ship returned a day early after 200 people fell ill.

A 30% refund has been offered to the 2,258 passengers on the seven-day trip.

Day 'tainted'

But Mr Cordon, who is a sub-postmaster in Wakefield, said the compensation offered by Princess Cruises was unsatisfactory.

He said: "We spent a lot of money going on board the ship as well as into the wedding and it was all spoilt, I do not think they have offered enough.

"My father-in-law was especially bad and he was just able to walk his daughter down the aisle, then he had to go straight away.

"It's such a shame, it spoilt the wedding and it has taken a great edge off the whole thing.

"It also upset my wife because it is supposed to be the biggest day of a woman's life and it was tainted.
