City plea for more foster carers
People thinking about becoming foster carers are being invited to discover more about fostering as a two-week appeal gets under way in Southampton.

During the campaign, set up by the city council, those interested will be able talk to experts at Bitterne Library on 12 May and Shirley Library on 19 May.

A balloon launch at Bargate on Monday, will mark the launch of the event.

"In Southampton more than 250 children live in foster care and we are still in need of more carers," the council said.

Clive Everist, the city council's fostering recruitment officer, said: "This fortnight is a way of celebrating the great work already being done in the city and to also encourage others considering fostering to come forward."
