House siege man faces charges
A man has been charged with false imprisonment of a woman, 34, and two children and making threats to kill after a siege on the Isle of Wight.

The woman, a nine-year old and a girl, two, escaped unharmed from an address on Mary Rose Avenue, Wootton Bridge, on Wednesday night, police said.

Officers were called after a report a man had barricaded himself inside.

Anthony Michael Benjamin - also facing charges of assault and affray - was due before Newport magistrates on Friday.

Mr Benjamin is from Ashey Valley in Ryde.
