A gunman who shot a 19-year-old with an air rifle as he walked home may have carried out a similar attack on a woman in the same street only days earlier.
The victim was going along Elson Road in Gosport, Hants, late on Thursday when a man dressed in dark clothing fired an air weapon at his leg.
The young man was taken to hospital to have the pellet removed from his leg.
On Tuesday a 19-year-old needed surgery to a pellet from her pelvic bone after being shot on the same street.
Det Sgt Derek Hatch said: "This attack has similarities to an incident in which a 19-year-old woman was wounded, also in Elson Road, on Tuesday. For this reason, at this time, we are treating the two incidents as linked.
"We have carried out house-to-house enquiries and continue to investigate both incidents."
