Rave organisers face prosecution
Police have broken up an illegal rave which was due to be staged in Hampshire.

About 200 people who had gathered for the music event near the village of Upton Gray, outside Basingstoke, were dispersed on Sunday.

Officers seized sound equipment and said they would be prosecuting the organisers for public order offences.

Revellers were leaving the site on Sunday. The event had been advertised on the internet.

Supt Paul Netherton said: "We will not tolerate illegal raves. They cause disturbance to local residents and damage to the environment, especially in areas of scientific interest and natural beauty such as this.

"We will seek to robustly prosecute organisers of such events, and part of this action will involve the seizure of vehicles and sound equipment."
