Two men accused of attacking a convicted paedophile in his prison cell have appeared before magistrates.
Anthony Hawkins, 23, and Christopher Egan, 39, are accused of attacking William Goad, 60, on 2 January at HMP Parkhurst on the Isle of Wight, Hants.
Hawkins is charged with attempted murder, and Egan is charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.
Goad, serving life for abusing hundreds of boys over 40 years, needed 20 stitches following the incident.
Both men were remanded in custody by Isle of Wight magistrates to appear at Winchester Crown Court on 25 January.
