Wife's grief for tsunami husband
Peter Weston
Mr Weston and his family had spent Christmas in the Maldives
A wife has spoken of the moment her husband was swept to his death by a wave as they holidayed in the Maldives.

Peter Weston, 47, was on holiday with his wife Jackie, 45, and their two daughters Victoria, 14, and Katie, 11.

Mrs Weston said the family, from Owslebury, Hampshire, were at the hotel reception when they saw waves coming.

She said: "People didn't know where to go or what to do. It was sudden and chaotic. In the chaos Pete got separated from us."

Mrs Weston said she had heard the sound of children screaming before the waves struck at the White Sands Resort on the Ari Atoll Island.

She added: "It wasn't a big wall of water, just a big surge.

"We are all absolutely devastated. Pete was a fantastic father and husband. We just can't put into words how we feel."

Mr Weston was managing director of Media Innovations Group, based in Otterbourne, Hampshire, which makes memory cards for digital cameras.

He and his family had flown to the Indian Ocean island resort on 20 December and were due to return home on Monday.
