Lorry ploughs into family cottage
A husband, wife and their teenage son escaped injury when a lorry driver lost control on an icy road and crashed into the sitting room of their cottage.

The driver, a 24-year-old man from Reading, came off a bend in Abbot's Anne Road in Amport near Andover, Hampshire, on Tuesday morning.

A police spokeswoman described it as a miracle that neither the driver nor the family were injured.

The fire service is expected to take four hours to make the building safe.

Police said the wife and 15-year-old son are staying with a friend while the husband stays at the cottage until it is made secure.

Roads and footpaths were very icy at the time of the accident and were described by a police officer as "a nightmare for everyone at the scene".
