A number of World War II bombs were discovered on a building site
A second cordon has now been lifted after suspected unexploded World War II bombs were found by contractors two days in a row.

A contractor at Regent's Park Road in Southampton discovered more than 50 mortar shells on Wednesday.

On Thursday, police had to re-instate the cordon after a further six shells were uncovered.

A spokesman from Hampshire police said: "All the devices have been recovered, the area has been made safe."

During the excavation period, residents were told to keep their movements within the 200m cordoned area to a minimum, and keep doors and windows closed as a precaution.

More than 80 separate items of munitions were uncovered in an area thought to have been a World War II weapons dump.

The mortars examined on Wednesday by bomb disposal experts from Wiltshire were found not to be dangerous.
