Ex-boxer is jailed for raping man

A former boxer who raped a man after a New Year's Eve fancy dress party has been jailed for 12 years.

John Cadogan, 26, of Blakeney, attacked the 20-year-old near Lydney Rugby Club on 1 January.

Jailing him, Judge Martin Picton at Bristol Crown Court also ordered that Cadogan be put on the sex offenders register for life.

Det Con Jacqui Camp, who led the inquiry, said: "This was a very nasty assault."

She added: "We would like to thank the victim for having the courage to stand up to the offender and speak out about the incident in court.

"The sentence handed down reflects the seriousness of the offence."
