Travellers defy eviction notice

A group of travellers who were served with a 24-hour eviction order last Thursday have failed to move on, Gloucester City Council has said.

Some 20 caravans arrived at the council-owned Plock Court playing fields on Tuesday.

A city council spokesman said the authority was going to court later to start legal proceedings to have the group evicted.

He said the council would be seeking a possession order for the land.

Last week a travellers' spokesman said the group were in the area on holiday and planned to leave soon.
