Previously people had to call the council about their parking problems

Pictures of vehicles parked illegally in a Gloucestershire town will soon be published on the borough council's website. As well as issuing parking tickets, wardens in Cheltenham are to begin taking digital photographs to use as evidence, a council spokesman said. People will also be able to pay and appeal against a parking fine online, through the council's website. Previously people had to telephone the council to discuss parking fines. A Cheltenham Borough Council spokesman said: "Using the new online system, customers can find out more information about their penalty charge notice such as the time, location and the type of contravention. "It will also allow them to view the photographic evidence taken by the civil enforcement officer at the time." Councillor John Morris added: "I'm delighted we are using this new technology. "It will help offenders pay their fines simply and also see the misdemeanour as shown on the online programme. "Previously, customers were required to contact the council in person, by telephone, or in writing using the penalty charge notice challenge form."
