Adoption plea focuses on babies

Gloucestershire County Council is actively looking for more people to adopt babies and pre-school children.

For many years the council has focused on finding people willing to adopt hard to place children, school-age children and groups of brothers and sisters.

Now it is focusing its attentions on finding homes for children aged below the age of four.

Councillor Paul McLain said: "Our aim for all children is to give them the best possible life chances.

"More than nine out of 10 people who go through the assessment process are approved to adopt and we need people from across the community to come forward.

"We have made great strides in improving the adoption process in Gloucestershire and we hope this will encourage people to contact us to offer a loving and permanent home to a child or children," added Mr McLain.
