Quick sale for air show tickets

The 2008 show was largely washed out by the poor weather

All the tickets for the first day of an international air tattoo, which was virtually rained off last year, have been sold, the organisers have said.

Both days of the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire were called off after heavy rain led to waterlogging in 2008.

Hundreds of planes and up to 150,000 people are expected to attend the event this weekend.

Organisers said some tickets remain unsold for Sunday.

Aircraft have already begun arriving, including a B1-B bomber from the US Air Force.

In total 85 aircraft have already touched down at the Cotswold Base, from countries including Jordan, New Zealand, Holland, Hungary, Sweden and Italy.

An Avro Vulcan is due to arrive on Friday 17 July.

Air Tattoo chief executive Tim Prince said: "Anyone still without a ticket who would like to come and share the excitement of this unique event must act quickly and buy a ticket online for Sunday."

The tattoo is staged in support of the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust, a charity set up in 2005.
