A decision not to allow new homes to be built in the area was appealed

People in an area of Gloucester which is prone to flooding are to be given a chance to have their say on plans for thousands of new homes. A meeting has been arranged to discuss plans to build between Innsworth and Down Hatherley - both badly affected by floods in summer 2007. One of the major problems in the area was surface flooding and poor drainage. The original planning application for the development was thrown out by Tewkesbury Borough Council planners. Developer Robert Hitchins appealed the decision which has now gone to a planning inquiry. The inspector is due to hold a meeting later in Longford Village Hall so that residents can air their views.
