Man injured in alleyway 'assault'

A 39-year-old man is being treated in hospital after he was found in an alleyway in Stroud, Gloucestershire.

Officers were called to George Street in Stroud on Saturday evening by paramedics who believed the victim had been assaulted.

A Gloucestershire Police spokeswoman said the man was being treated in Frenchay Hospital, near Bristol, for a serious eye injury.

"Anyone who was in the area at the time is asked to contact police," she added.
