Aerobatic challenge for charity

A man is attempting to complete 15 aerobatic flights over three days to raise money for Gloucestershire-based charity Fly2help.

Jason Phelan started his challenge at Kemble Airfield near Cirencester and hopes to fly in 13 different planes, over 11 counties and seven airfields.

Mr Phelan will be flown by a qualified pilot and hopes to raise £5,000.

"The charity works for the terminally ill, the chronically sick and abused, I felt I needed to help out," he said.

'Extraordinary adventure'

Mandy Pantall, of Fly2help, said: "Fly2help works to turn an ordinary day into an extraordinary adventure for many very brave and special people.

"But Fly2help's work, along with the very nature of flying, involves huge costs.

"Therefore, it really is only through the generous donations and support of others like Jason, that we can fund our ambitious aims and share so many blue skies, adventures and smiles with those who need them most."

Mr Phelan completed his first four flights at Kemble and Compton Abbas in Dorset.

The rest of the aerobatic challenge will involve flights from Goodwood and Shoreham in Sussex.

He hopes to finish on Sunday at Sywell Airport in Northamptonshire.
