No buyer at unfinished hotel sale

Windrush Heights
Construction on the Windrush Heights Hotel began in 2002

An unfinished hotel in Gloucestershire which began construction seven years ago, has failed to sell at auction.

It is not clear why the 46-bedroomed Windrush Heights, on the site of a former truckers' stop on the A40, was never completed.

The plans included a conference facility, petrol station and shop.

Auctioneers Savills gave the building - now derelict and open to the elements - a guide-price of 800,000 but no-one at the sale wanted to take it on.
