Parents are advised to call their schools in the morning

Council gritters are on standby to deal with heavy snow showers which are expected to continue overnight throughout Gloucestershire.

Snowfall closed dozens of schools and caused difficulties for rail passengers in the county throughout Monday.

First Great Western services from the county to London were terminating at Reading because of the weather.

More than 57 schools stayed shut, the Cotswolds being particularly badly hit with closures throughout.

Waste collection services in the district were also suspended until further notice.

Parents are being advised to call their children's schools on Tuesday to see if they are open.
