New cables to cut power outages

New electricity cables are being laid which should mean power cuts at times of high demand are a thing of the past in a Forest of Dean town.

Work starts on the £1m project in Coleford on Monday morning.

Contractors will be digging up the road from the clock tower, along Market Place, and up the hill to the bottom of Wynols Hill Lane.

The town council says it is attempting to find more off-street parking for shoppers during the work.

No homes or businesses are expected to encounter supply problems while the 11,000 volt cables are being run in and the new supply will be connected on a Sunday to minimise any disruption.
