Uninsured cars seized by police

Police seized 10 vehicles whose owners had no insurance in a two-day operation in Gloucestershire.

Operation Lotto took place on the Tewkesbury Road in Cheltenham on Wednesday and Thursday.

More than 100 vehicles were stopped and examined during the operation, said Gloucestershire Police.

Two drivers were issued with tickets for minor road offences, several people were given warnings for minor vehicle defects and five people were arrested.

A 52-year-old man from Birmingham was arrested on suspicion of fraud and a 25-year-old Innsworth man was given a formal caution for a public order offence.

Three people from Birmingham - a 54-year-old man, a 24-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman - were arrested for going equipped to steal.

Customs and Excise detected four vehicles using red diesel and trading standards officers gathered intelligence regarding rogue traders in the area.
