Civic ceremony honours town crier

Alan Myatt
The ceremony will be held at the council's North Warehouse offices

A civic reception is to be held to honour one of Gloucester's most well-known characters.

Alan Myatt, who has helped promote the city for 20 years, will be recognised at the ceremony on 10 October.

Gloucester's mayor, Cllr Norman Ravenhill, said Mr Myatt had really helped to put the city on the map.

"Alan has had a long career helping promote the city and local businesses. We thought it was right to mark this milestone" he added.

The ceremony is due to take place at the council's North Warehouse offices.
