Inquest into trench death opens

The inquest has been opened into the death of a man who died in Gloucestershire when a trench collapsed on him.

Alex Wright, 27, was working in Brimscombe Lane in Stroud when tons of mud fell on him.

Mr Wright, a soil engineer from Cheltenham, was working for Cotswold Geotech Ltd when the accident happened on 5 September.

The inquest was opened by the coroner at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court.
