CCTV installed on school buses

The scheme aims to address anti-social behaviour on school buses

Two classmates from Gloucestershire are leading a campaign to improve behaviour on school buses.

Ben Wear and Declan Scott, both 12, won a poster competition to publicise a pilot scheme where CCTV is installed on school buses in the Stroud area.

The aim is to make it easier for bus operators to report bad behaviour with a pledge from Gloucestershire police to respond to all incidents.

The poster will appear in the schools and buses taking part in the pilot.

Ben, from Sir William Romney Secondary School in Tetbury, said: "We had the idea of putting the road through the middle of the poster to make it obvious what it was all about and then thought of what the driver is always telling us."

Derek Lucas, from Gloucestershire County Council, said: "Many school buses already have CCTV installed but at the moment the process of reporting incidents is time consuming and uncoordinated."

The pilot will run for six months and, if successful, will then be extended to all school buses in Gloucestershire for a further six months.
