Jetties built using licence cash

New angling platforms at Cannop Ponds
The platforms will allow anglers to cast into deep water

Money collected by the Environment Agency for rod licences has been used to pay for new jetties at a lake in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire.

The £8,000 facilities will allow disabled anglers to cast into deep water at Cannop Ponds near Lydney.

As well as the platforms, more than 262ft (80m) of pathways and 32ft (10m) of boardwalks have been built.

The path leads from the car park to the platforms over what was a jumble of mud and broken stonework.

The platforms complement two others which were installed some years ago on the opposite side of the lake.

Any angler aged 12 years or over, fishing for salmon, trout, freshwater fish or eels in England, Wales or the Border Esk in Scotland, must have an Environment Agency rod licence.
