Bad weather sees off steam rally

Poor weather has forced organisers to cancel a steam rally in Gloucestershire for the second year running.

The Fairford Steam Rally usually attracts thousands in the height of the British summer. But incessant rain has forced organisers to cancel the event.

"Due to excessive rain and ground conditions - it is so bad now we can't get anything on to the site," said event director Neil Woodward.

The rally was due to take place on the weekend of 16 and 17 August.

A travelling fair is still due to visit for the weekend.
