Historical sites 'under threat'

A number of historical monuments are under threat in Gloucestershire, according to county archaeologists.

Councillor Will Windsor-Clive said many of the county's historical monuments were "considered to be at high risk."

The Gloucestershire County Council Archaeology Service is launching a new Heritage At Risk (HAR) register.

The HAR register will examine which monuments are at risk and ways to protect and manage the historic sites across the county.

Archaeologist Jan Wills said the register will help "in our understanding of the threat posed to protected sites in our county, as well as providing us with a focus for our efforts to protect them".

The HAR register will be launched on 8 July.
