'Unsafe' chemical found in school

Explosives officers were called to dispose of an unsafe chemical which had been stored at a school in Stroud.

A small quantity of the unnamed substance was found at Marling School in Cainscross Road during a routine safety inspection on Tuesday afternoon.

Police and fire crews were called and it was decided the chemical should be removed and disposed of.

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit carried out a controlled explosion later at Aston Down airfield.
