Bronze Holst statue is unveiled

Gustav Holst was born in Cheltenham in 1874

A bronze statue of Cheltenham's famous composer Gustav Holst has been unveiled in the town.

The sculptor is Anthony Stones while the Pangolin Foundry in Chalford has cast the figure together with seven plaques depicting The Planets.

Holst, who was born in the Pittville area of Cheltenham, wrote nearly 200 compositions.

The statue was unveiled at midday in the Imperial Gardens by the Cheltenham Civic Society.
