Wife accused of cake 'poisoning'
A woman has appeared in court accused of lacing a fruitcake she made for her husband with rat poison.

Yvonne Godwin of Pilley Crescent, Cheltenham, was at Gloucester Crown Court charged with attempting to administer poison to Robert Godwin.

The 56-year-old mother-of-five, who worked at the town's Delancey Hospital, entered no plea and spoke only to confirm her identity.

Judge Martin Picton remanded her in custody until 2 April.

Forensic tests will now be carried out on the cake she made for her partner of 30 years.
