Several homes in Gloucester deluged by last summer's floods have been hit again after overnight downpours.

Police and Environment Agency workers have been checking houses and roads across Gloucestershire following heavy rain on Sunday.

Six houses in Bodiam Avenue flooded after a culvert became blocked.

"It's quite bad for this time of year but nothing on the scale of last summer," said police spokeswoman Kate Nelmes.

"There are a couple of warnings in place and officers are out checking the roads," said Ms Nelmes.

Farooq Mulla, from the Environment Agency, added: "The River Severn is on a flood watch but it is just a warning to be aware. We have not any reports of severe floods."
