Wife accused of poisoning husband

A woman has appeared in court accused of putting rat poison into a fruitcake she baked for her husband.

Yvonne Godwin, 56, is charged with attempting to administer poison with intent to injure, aggravate or annoy her husband.

Mrs Godwin, of Pilley Crescent in the town, entered no plea at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court.

She was remanded in custody until 19 March when she will appear at Gloucester Crown Court.
