Weekend road closures under way
Weekend closures of one of the main routes into Cheltenham have begun.

The work is part of a £5m scheme to improve nearly all of the A40 from Arle Court to Charlton Kings.

The programme, which will take about three months, includes repairing and upgrading drains to make them more effective.

This weekend, the A40 in-bound between the Benhall roundabout and Lansdown Parade is shut, with diversions along Princess Elizabeth Way.

Bus-lane widening

Frank Heggs, Principal Engineer for Gloucestershire Highways said: "Our work will be to resurface the road.

"We're going to do this over several weekends, but they won't be consecutive because it depends upon the progress of the bus-lane widening works.

"We're going to divert all of the eastbound traffic via Princess Elizabeth Way and up the Tewksbury Road.

"Traffic travelling west will be able to travel through as normal with less disruption than they're experiencing in the week at the moment."
