Police officers
Officers are searching the land around Mrs Prout's home
A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a missing Gloucestershire woman, although police have stressed no body has been found.

Kate Prout, 55, disappeared from her farmhouse at Redmarley in the Forest of Dean on Bonfire Night.

Officers are searching 200 acres of land around her home, but said there was no direct evidence that she had come to harm and she still may be safe.

The arrest is said to be "just one aspect of the thorough investigation".

Police said the search of the area around the farmhouse is continuing and is expected to last for some time.

Mrs Prout is white, 5ft 6 tall and of medium build.

She is described as having a pale complexion, green eyes and at the time of her disappearance had brown, shoulder-length straight hair although it has previously been red in colour.

She was wearing jeans and a black v-neck top when she was last seen.
