Rail volunteer hit by steam train
A man is being treated for serious injuries after being hit by a steam train in Gloucestershire.

He is believed to have been working as a volunteer for the Dean Forest Railway when the accident happened in Lydney on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said he was trying to open a crossing gate to allow the train to pass across the High Street, but could not get it open in time.

The train hit the gate before dragging the man across the road with it.

He was taken to Frenchay hospital in Bristol, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
