Flooding costs county up to £50m
Man draws water from a bowser
Bowsers are beginning to disappear from the streets
It will cost up to £50m to get Gloucestershire back on its feet after the recent floods, a county councillor has said.

Councillor Will Windsor-Clive was speaking as the county council took control of the recovery process, marking the end of the emergency.

Mr Windsor-Clive said: "The emergency services, military, health and volunteers have done a brilliant job.

"But it is now time to start rebuilding Gloucestershire."

"We estimate that it will cost at least £50m to get Gloucestershire going, starting with getting people back into their homes, rebuilding our roads and opening our leisure centres and schools.

"We also need to send a clear message that Gloucestershire is open for business and tourism."

Flood-damaged homes are to be inspected later this week.
