Severn Bridge to shut at weekends
Engineers on top of the Old Severn Bridge
£27m will be spent to halt corrosion of the bridge's cables
The Old Severn Bridge is to close either East or Westbound at weekends from June to enable repairs to rusting cables to be carried out.

The work - part of a £27m engineering programme - will involve installing dehumidifiers on the main cables.

A monitoring system will be installed to keep check on the bridge's supports and a system of hot air blowers will be put in to protect the cables.

The work is scheduled to take place over eight weekends.
