A rural watch scheme is being introduced to areas around Cheltenham.
The scheme keeps people informed of any crime or suspicious activity in the area, allowing them to take preventative measures.
If something happens an e-mail alert is sent by the police, backed up with a recorded message to a phone line.
The scheme covers Badgeworth, Coombe Hill, Brockworth, Churchdown, Highnam with Hawbridge, Hucclecote, Innsworth, with Down Hatherley and Shurdington.
"Often our rural residents don't have neighbours close by to keep an eye on the area or their property," said Pc Sarah Ward.
"For example, if a tractor is stolen from a farm, we will put an alert out via e-mail and on their phone to those who are registered to tell them to be on the lookout for the vehicle and to make sure their farm equipment is secure."
