Woman crushed as she helps driver
A woman who stopped to help a driver whose car had overturned died after another vehicle skidded and crushed her against the man's car.

The crash happened on Tuesday at about 0820 GMT in Gloucestershire.

The cars skidded on an icy stretch of Haresfield Lane between Brookthorpe and Haresfield, police said.

The 49-year-old woman from Eastington was taken to hospital in Gloucester but died later. Witnesses have been asked to contact police.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said a red Ford Fiesta was being driven along Haresfield Lane by a 17-year-old male youth who apparently lost control on an icy patch.

His car skidded and rolled on to its roof, stopping by the roadside.

The woman from Eastlington, who was driving in the opposite direction, stopped her car and went to assist the Fiesta's driver.

Shortly after, a white Citroen, being driven by a 23-year-old man from Gloucester, lost control and crashed into the Fiesta, crushing the woman between the two cars.
